| Details | General Information: Join us for a great family event. There will be a 5k race with chip timing. We will also have a one mile Fun Run/Walk and a Toddler Trot for the little ones. Runners in the 5k will compete for over 100 medals/trophies. All participants in the One Mile event receive medals. After the races great refreshments will be served and there will be a drawing for prizes. The event will be held, rain or shine. No refunds! Profits from the race go for scholarships for Orange County students. Note: This year we have a new, professional timing company. Quick and accurate results provided. Schedule of events: Packet pick-up: Pre-registered participants can pick-up race bibs, shirts, and other goodies on the evening of May 9 at Weaver Street Market in Hillsborough from 4-8pm. Race Day: 7:00-8:30am: On-site registration and packet pick-up in the gym 8:30am: One Mile Fun Run/Walk. Starts and finishes on the track. All finishers get a medal: adults and children! 9:15am: 5k race. *The top three overall men and women receive a trophy. *The top Masters (age 40-up) male and female receive a trophy. *The top Grandmasters (age 50-up) male and female receive a trophy. *The top three males/females in the following age groups receive a medal: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. There will not be duplicate awards. 10:15am: Toddler Trot on the football field. This is for kids 5 and under and is free, no need to register. Finishers receive blue ribbon and a plastic Got Grit? hard hat. 10:30am: Award Ceremony and drawing for prizes; must be present to win a prize. The 5k course: Starts at the high school, travels through some quiet streets (soft rolling hills) and finishes on the track. The course is ‘out-and-back’ and is certified (NC13016DF). Chip timing is provided by Run the East. Location: Orange High School, 500 Orange High School Road, Hillsborough, NC 27278. There is plenty of free parking at the school. Registration: Runners who register on or before April 23rd are guaranteed a beautiful “cool-max” performance, moisture wicking t-shirt. After that date, while supplies last. So, register early! On race day please bring cash or checks….no debit or credit cards. Fees: Ages 19 & Under- $15 Ages 20 & Over- $25 |
